The Borg Symphony
The Borg Symphony is the place where human feelings and creativity intersect with the power of the computer and machines. The members of the Borg Symphony hear music primarily as mathematics. They understand the composition, the interweaving of rhythms and melodies but do they fully understand the emotions behind the words to the songs? They mimic our music without really understanding what they were doing.
The thing about the Borg Symphony "live" is that it's always very different because we always have a different line up. In addition to a very precise backing track made by the founding members we always have supplemental guest musicians who have willingly been assimilated into the group. Each one is chosen for a special skill, (not necessarily musical) and they blend into the overall piece always staying within a set of pre-determined cues established by the sound and the visuals.
This gives us a lot of room for improvisation without getting out of control - the last thing that Cyborgs need! Each of the assimilated members wears at the minimum a mask and the more adventurous ones a full Borg costume.
We've had a lot of musicians from around the world volunteer their services, the Borg are after-all VERY seductive, and every time that they play live they have requests to jam with the ensemble. The Borg Symphony is a basic unit of four, including a Borg storyteller or narrator, with a variety of additional contributors, but once you have played with the Borg you can consider yourself to have been assimilated, there is no going back!
